Quality Technician

Reporting to: Quality Engineer, Band: D

Scope of the Role

The Quality Technician’s main role is to ensure the day-to-day quality of manufactured product and its compliance to regulatory and customer standards. There is a secondary requirement to maximise the value add from the quality function by reducing risk to product quality. The Quality Technician will be responsible for supporting new product introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring all quality aspects are completed on time in full, to a high standard.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The below list is not exhaustive, but the main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Implement and maintain the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies, and standards.
  • Ensure all daily quality inspection is done to a high standard including measurement to customer specifications and to Quality plans.
  • Work with the production team onsite to provide guidance and mentorship for quality related issues as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the Quality role in the control of non-conforming product including administration of the company Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) process as required and working with CAPA owners to ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are completed.
  • Manage the product Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and work with key stakeholders to reduce the risk priority number (RPN).
  • Responsible for the creation of Certificate of Conformance (COC) and ensuring their accuracy and timeliness
  • Responsible for environmental monitoring and overseeing resolution of issues.
  • Undertake continuous improvement activities as required, including A3 problem solving, and Six Sigma Yellow Belt projects as required.
  • Drive the quality function of the NPI process.
  • Perform inspections with customer in a professional manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours

The postholder will possess a range of the following knowledge, skills, and behaviours:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Quality role with experience within electronics highly desirable.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality standards.
  • Internal auditor qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings to correctly perform basic measurements with various hand tools and machinery.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or similar software desirable.
  • Knowledge of product FMEA beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance to improve quality and process efficiency of supplied parts.
  • Ability to work professionally with production team including operators and supervision on quality matters.
  • Reliable and trustworthy in following the guidelines of the ISO9001 QMS.
