Our apprentices have driven our business forward. At ABT, we strongly believe in promoting apprenticeships as a viable career path for not just engineering-related courses but also non-typical apprenticeship courses such as Marketing, HR, and Finance. We realise how vital apprenticeships are in bridging the skills gap, fostering innovation, and securing the next generation of talent.

During National Apprentice Week, we took the opportunity to celebrate both Ben Bedford and Ellie Filip for passing their level 3 apprenticeships. Ben and Ellie will both continue their careers at ABT. Ben chose to continue his educational journey with a degree apprenticeship as a Junior Design Engineer, with his degree starting this September.

Ellie will perfect the skills she learned during her apprenticeship as a Junior Production Engineer with our NPI team. We are incredibly proud of both of them for their achievements within the business and look forward to their continued journeys at ABT. Recently Ellie featured on BBC News as part of the story covering our designing and manufacturing battery packs for a flying race car, which is available now. We are incredibly proud of both of them for their achievements within the business and look forward to their continued journeys at ABT.

We also celebrated our HR Coordinator, Ellie Barret, for highlighting the incredible opportunities apprenticeships can offer by delivering an assembly at local academy Shotton Hall. As an apprentice, Ellie could talk first-hand about her apprenticeship journey and the benefits of earning whilst learning. Our CFO Claire Brymer was interviewed as part of Strativ’s #WomenPower series to empower women in the battery industry. This interview touched on Claire’s journey from joining as an apprentice in 1999 to becoming the CFO, highlighting how a supportive environment can lead to fantastic growth. Learn more about Claire’s career development.

National Apprentice Week, as always, is a great chance to celebrate the contribution apprentices have made to our business and the continued skills being developed in the North East region. If you want to learn more about our apprenticeship scheme, please contact us.
