This time, we introduce Steve Gee, Design and Test Engineering Manager. Steve leads the team responsible for designing and developing the advanced electronics that make our battery packs both smart and reliable. In this Q&A, he shares his journey to ABT, what he enjoys most about his role and a fun fact you might not expect.

Q1: Who are you?
My name is Steve Gee. I’m the Design and Test Engineering Manager, and I’ve been at Alexander Battery Technologies for 2 years.
Q2: Can you tell us a bit about your career before joining ABT’s battery project team?
Since graduating from University, I’ve been working in electronics manufacturing for more than 30 years. Over the past 15 years, I’ve focused on engineering management, and that’s the experience I’ve brought with me to ABT.
Q3: What made you want to join ABT?
What attracted me to ABT is that the projects we work on are very exciting. There’s never a boring day, and I really enjoy having the ability to help people bring these projects to life within the team.
Q4: What do you enjoy most about your job as a battery project engineer?
My normal day involves leading a team of 12 engineers, ensuring everyone is aligned on the projects underway, mentoring and guiding apprentices, and assisting in the development of test systems. I find it rewarding to support the team’s growth while driving projects forward.
Q5: What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise people?
Some of my hobbies include playing percussion instruments like tabla drums and Indian drums, as well as playing the five-string banjo. My favourite tune to play on the banjo? Something fast and lively, like Smoky Mountain.
