Scope of the Role
As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will support and lead the Engineering team with new product development for battery and charging solutions This role will require you to take careful and methodical attitude and approach to new product development following the ABT’s internal processes and procedures. The post-holder must be confident working and leading a team of Engineers via planning for milestones and deadlines, with ongoing reviews and goal setting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The below list is not exhaustive, but the main duties and responsibilities will be:
- PCB design, schematic capture and layout using Altium Designer.
- Design and development of electronics related to battery packs: battery management and protection circuits; charging circuits and power supplies; communications and other ‘smart’ battery features.
- Supporting new product development by developing products with design for manufacture, test and quality built in.
- Creating bills of materials and selecting appropriate components to meet customer requirements.
- Working and leading a multi-discipline team to ensure projects are delivered on time, costed appropriately, and designed to a high standard.
- Testing battery cell packs and new products, evaluating performance and safety circuits and creating reports for customer and internal use.
- Contributing to embedded solutions to support battery management, charging systems and digital communications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours
The successful candidate will possess a range of the following knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
- Ideally electronics engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Ideally with 3-5 years’ design experience within a relevant industry. All round electronic design skills including design and troubleshooting. PCB design experience is essential.
- Self-motivation with a high degree of creativity and initiative.
- Experience and ability to lead a team of design engineers, review, and plan workloads to match project milestones and deadlines.
- Lateral thinking with the ability to provide realistic and innovative design solutions.
- Experience with microprocessors/microcontrollers (PIC)
- Ideally with previous project management experience in a new product development life cycle
- Organised, motivated and enthusiastic.
- Keeps priorities under review, plans and works flexibly to cope with change in circumstances and demands.
